| The Department's law enforcement personnel are organized by rank which ranges from Constable to Deputy. Supervisors wear gold colored badges on the left breast that indicates their rank. Deputies were silver colored badges. The majority of the personnel were uniforms and rank is also displayed on the shoulder epaulet or on the sleeve. Non-Uniformed personnel were a badge and picture I.D.identifing them and indicating their rank. |

Constable - Constable Ron Hickman is the leader of the Department and thus presides at the top of the rank structure. In general, the Constable does not where a uniform. However, when in uniform, the Constable's rank is displayed on the shoulder epaulet. |

Chief Deputy - The Chief Deputy is second in command of the Department and reports directly to the Constable. The Chief Deputy is appointed by the Constable. Uniform rank is displayed on the shoulder epaulet. |

Deputy Chief - The rank of Deputy Chief reports directly to the Chief Deputy. Deputy Chiefs oversee one or more divisions of the
Department. Deputy Chiefs are appointed by the

Captain - The rank of Captain reports directly to the Deputy Chief. Captains oversee the daiily operations of the Department's
divisions. In the case of the Patrol Division, Captains are
responsible for patrol districts. Captains are appointed by
the Constable. Uniform rank is displayed on the shoulder

Lieutenant

The rank of Lieutenant reports directly to a Captain. Lieutenants assist the Captain in the daily operatoins of a
division. Lieutenants typically oversee a smaller group of
personnel than a Captain. Lieutenants are appointed by the

Sergeant

Corporal -
The rank of Corporal reports directly to a Sergeant in most cases. Corporals oversee a smaller group of personnel than a
Sergeant. Like a Sergeant, in some specialized divisions, Corporals may
report to higher ranking supervisor instead of a Sergreant. Corporals are promoted via examination. Uniform
rank is displayed on the sleeve. |

Deputy -
The rank of Deputy is the lowest degree of rank for law enforcement personnel in the Department. Deputies comprise the majority of patrol personnel and are the
Department's most valuable asset. Serving and protecting our community, they are on the front line against crime. In most cases
Deputies report to a Corporal. The Deputy uniform does not display a rank emblem. |
