Kidnapping Rumor (05/19/08 by Constable Ron Hickman) - Recently information has been circulating regarding a 16 year old girl being kidnapped from an apartment parking lot near Klein High School. Allegedly, the young girl was “abducted” by a group belonging to the prison gang known as the “CRIPS”. She was supposed to have been “tricked” into getting into the car with a boy she knew from school. The girl was also supposed to have been taken to a location in the Conroe area where she was “rescued” from her abductors by someone operating covertly within the gang.
The information is not founded in fact and appears to be nothing more than just a rumor. The incident appears to be a young girl who left her father after a dispute and went to the Conroe area to stay with her mother. Officers who investigated the incident indicated the girl was not kidnapped and there was no gang involvement.

| Put Your Keys Beside Your Bed (03/01/08 by Constable Ron Hickman) - Please share this with your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, the check out Girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep sounding until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on t he key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or prevent a sexual abuse crime. This is not a bad idea for seniors as well. I suggest they carry their car keys with them in case they accidentally fall outside and know one hears them. They can activate the car alarm and then someone will know there's a problem.

Burglary Suspects Arrested
(01/03/08 by Chief Jim Sumner) - At 1:02 am on Thursday, January 03, 2008, Deputy Scott Hardin responded to a burglary to a motor vehicle call in the 9600 block of Woodcliff in the Gleanloch subdivision. While in route he was given a description of the suspect(s) vehicle (a white SUV possible Tahoe or Blazer). He observed the vehicle leaving the subdivision and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle at Champion Forest and Spring Cypress. The vehicle was occupied by 5 male suspects (3 white males and 2 black males). During the interview and subsequent written statements, four of the suspects confessed to cruising the area to burglarize unlocked vehicles for GPS systems and other valuables. They admitted to getting into five vehicles but only removed items from two of them. When they were stopped a 700 Remington rifle (stolen) with 25 live rounds of ammunition and a Garmin GPS system were recovered. The suspects could not identify the vehicle location in which they stole the afore mentioned items. Deputies utilized the stolen GPS system to pinpoint the home location of the vehicle and identify the complainant. The following three suspects were arrested and charged with Theft of a Firearm, a third degree felony.
Caleb Stevens 17 year of age white male
Patrick Deakins 18 year of age black male
Jermaine Thomas 17 year of age black male

| Aggravated Robbery to Individuals
(12/28/07 by Chief Jim Sumner) - We have experienced several aggravated robberies to individuals over the holiday period. Many of these robberies have occurred at the complainants residence where they were followed by the suspect(s). The suspect(s) normally followed an individual home, parked near the residence and then approached the victim at gun point as they exited their vehicles. Fortunately no-one has been seriously injured. However, we urge everyone to be observant of your surroundings and to the possibility of being followed. Make sure upon your arrival at home that you are in a well lighted area and have not been followed.

Burglaries in the
Central/Champions Forest Area (12/28/07 by Constable Ron
Hickman) -
We are experiencing a higher than normal rate of residential burglaries through the holiday season. Information suggests that some of these incidents may be attributed to persons who are associated with the residents as an employer.
If you employ domestic help for maid service, landscape, or lawn maintenance help, please ensure that you have reliable identification and contact information for them. Particularly those that have access inside your home.
If you are going to be away from home rememmber to have a neighbor pick up your mail, newpapers, or periodicals or stop the delivery service for that time. It is always a good idea to know your neighbors and make them aware that you will be leaving and to keep an eye on your home.
Make sure you have an inventory of your property and recorded serial numbers and taken photos or steps to identify items, including those new items received this Christmas. Store that information somewhere separate from your belongings.
Please keep an eye out and call 281-376-3472 or 9-1-1 should you see anything suspicious.
Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Holiday
Safety Alert (11/30/07 by Constable Ron
Hickman) - We are experiencing more of the holiday related incidents of burglaries of motor vehicles. In recent weeks there has been a number of news articles on leaving items and purchases in your vehicle. We continue to see incidents where thieves find easy prey in wallets and purses found clearly visible inside of vehicles parked in large shopping area parking lots. The thieves seem to be targeting YMCA facilities at this time. Upon finding access to credit cards, purchases are being made at hardware stores such as Lowe\'s and Home Depot.
Be prudent and secure your purchases and belongings out of site or in your trunk.

Solicitors (11/20/07 by Constable Ron
Hickman) -
Please be alert for solicitors over the holidays. We have a group of out of town solicitors working through our community asking for your personal information to sell books and magazines. They can collect information that would ordinarily be very sensitive and can also be used as a prelude to identity theft. Having access to your home as you answer the door can permit them to know what jewelry you have or furnishings are in your home. Please be cautious about who you permit to come to your home and what access you allow them.
They may use deceitful tactics or claim to be your neighbor\'s nephew or relative in an effort to gain your trust.
On Monday night 11/19/2007 at 7:00 pm (after dark) we arrested a 26 year old white male in the Cypresswood / Champion Forest area for being overly aggressive in his solicitations, using such tactics. |
